i have upgraded my prepaid number to postpaid some time ago. i thought that using postpaid numbers have more benefits and is very much convenient than prepaid, although both have its pros and cons. recently i went to Maxis Center and checked whether the international roaming have been activated. i was told that my number is a new account therefore i have yet to activate it. in order to activate it, i will have to pay RM300 deposit. why is it that to activate Maxis international roaming for postpaid users, one will have to pay RM300 deposit? what the heck for? on top of that, i have to bring my passport for whatever reason. why can't they activate it automatically, like prepaid numbers? i might as well get a prepaid number for travelling purposes then. why should i pay RM300 for them to activate the service? i think it's simply ridiculous. in this situation, it looks like prepaid users have more benefits. obviously the RM300 is refundable but that RM300 is better used for shopping, right?
i'm going abroad soon so the question is, should i pay the RM300 deposit or should i get a prepaid number?

yes....same goes with me when im in s'pore last last sunday...i wonder why i don get intl roaming...they should activated it automatically instead of ask us to pay RM300!!!
tu la pasal dip. last time i went overseas was in march and time tu i masih guna prepaid. dapat je network, siap boleh online lagi. i'm thinking of getting a prepaid number lah. tak kuasa i nak bayar RM300.
mmg.. patutlah ananda tu makin kaya.. did u ask under what condition that maxis will not return the deposit?
dhla skrg line mcm makin teruk.. sometimes when im on the line talking mcm ada dgr double voice la.. line breaking up la.. ish
anonymous,
they said they will return the money. nama pun deposit. that's what i was told lah. i takde tengok the terms & conditions pun lagi because i think it's very expensive and it's a hassle. yup, line makin teruk. sms lambat delivered, kadang2 sms tak masuk. bila sampai credit limit, immediately potong. bila dah bayar, tak pulak immediately sambung line. kena tunggu dalam 2 jam. wtf?
I also upgraded my prepaid to postpaid few months ago and I was also kena same as u!! I went to Bali only discovered that there is no intl roaming! Only 2 days holiday there also need to pay RM300 deposit! What the hack! All the monely already goes for holiday, where got extra RM300 to pay this stupid deposit, sumore requires to proof passport!
oh my! am planning to go overseas also in a few months time, lecehnye kalo kene pay deposit to activate roaming! unlike prepaid! they dont want to make money i guess? damn.
my advise to you would be to either get a prepaid line siap2 or get a prepaid card from the country you're at. it's easier and cheaper, i think. do take note that if u use hotlink prepaid, each sms to malaysia costs RM2.
