tribute to daddy

More often than not, people would ask me, how come you’re in private practice? Why didn’t you join judiciary? Why didn’t you follow you father’s footsteps? One person even said to me, “kalau I jadi you, mesti I dah jadi Majistret sekarang.” While some would tell me, “Mesti senang kan you nak deal dengan orang2 di court bila tengok nama bapak you.” Not really but yes, it has its ups and downs. I am proud to carry my dad’s name but that also means that I am carrying a heavy burden on my shoulder, especially in my profession. People would expect me to be at a certain level, their expectations would be so high and of course I couldn’t afford to screw up. In the event that I do (which I hope I won’t), not only will I be malu but my dad also will be malu! Someone once asked me, “your father garang tak di rumah? Di court memangla dia garang but di rumah?” To which I answered, “kalau tak garang, tak jadi orang la I adik beradik.”

So dad, Happy Father’s Day to you. Thank you for making me the person I am today. I think I get my garang-ness from him lah. heh~

i truly understand where you are coming from. i dislike mentioning my surname (to which most ppl think I'm the daughter of his cousin who is the current president of sabah law assoc) because he doesn't carry his family name.

But once they know who I am, every time I'm in court, things are easily done for me. Then I get lawyers telling me how I just have to sail thru because the road is already paved for me. Like you, I watch my every step, what more in a small town like mine. Once I have the locus to appear, I think I'll fret over every single thing cz it'll be then that ppl will judge me as his daughter.

ARGH! Responsibilities! And Surnames!

p/s my dad wants me to join judiciary for only 6 months. lol. so skejap. baik tak ya..

bads,
my point exactly! if there's any person who would understand, it would be u. they thought that a golden-paved road is laid out in front of us and we are off to a smooth-sailing trip. speaking of which, yesterday a client asked me why i didn't become a Magistrate. he said "biasanya kuah tumpah ke nasik, ni tumpah ke lain pulak." i almost answered, "saya x makan nasik sebab tu la x tumpah ke nasik" hahaha. but of course i didn't lah kan. i said xpe, asalkan bidang yang sama. =)

hotstuff,
betul, kalau garang atau nak marah, biarlah bertempat and bersebab. nanti orang kata kepala angin pulak nak marah x tentu pasal.
