dear Opah, we miss you so much. you will always be in our prayers and our hearts. you will not be forgotten. you are in a much better place now. until we meet again. Al-fatihah.

advanced gift

when i was small, i was introduced to the songs of Engelbert Humperdinck by my parents. until today, i still love listening to his songs and sometimes i even sing his song(s) at karaokes. about two weeks ago, litefm had a contest where they give out Engelbert Humperdinck's concert tickets. the concert is called Engelbert Humperdinck 2010 Legacy of Love World Tour. i tried calling in litefm since the first day they started the contest and i only managed to get through the line on wednesday. i was ecstatic! all i had to do was complete the next line of his song. they played this song.

(OMG i was only 2 years old when this song came out!!)

they played the first line "Please release me let me go..." and all i have to do is sing the line following it. so i sang "For i don't love you anymore..." and with that, i won two tickets to his concert. isn't it amazing? i even texted lil bro and mum and called boyfy to ask them to tune in to litefm to listen to it, which they did. :D

the tickets

i wanted to watch the concert (i think i may be one of youngest, if not THE youngest in the crowd) but since Father's Day is coming up this weekend, i decided to give Dad the tickets. perfect timing, right? ;) he was excited. mum was even more excited. :D
i am sure they are gonna enjoy themselves and they can relive those memories when they were younger when they listened to the songs.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY (in advance), ABAH! enjoy the concert!

Product Review-Clip In Bangs

i have naturally curly/wavy (most of the time messy) hair. i envy those with straight long hair and i bet those with straight long hair envy those with naturally curly/wavy hair. that is just human nature, i suppose. i also envy those with super sleek and super gorgeous bangs or fringe. i've always wanted to try to have bangs but every time i asked the hairdresser whether it'll look good on me, most, if not all of them (i go to different salons every time, btw) tell me that it does not suit my face. :(
they say that side partings is better as it covers part of the forehead. i noticed i have quite a large one too. however, due to my curly/wavy hair, often times the side partings didn't turn out like how i wanted it to be. i don't want to iron the front part of my hair every time. like my hair is not damaged already as it is, huh? so guess what i did? i found this.

this is what you call clip in bangs. it comes in three colours-black, dark brown and light brown. mine is dark brown.

option 1: front bangs. i think i looked bulat here. not that i am not bulat but i think this style makes me look bulat-er.

option 2: i clipped the bangs on the side and voila~

isn't it amazing? i don't have to worry about my bangs becoming penyek or wavy or tak jadi. it is easy to use, just clip it on and you're set to go. it blends well with your hair too.
speaking of hair, the (many) hairdressers tell me that i have sensitive scalp. anyone knows a home remedy to cure sensitive scalp and prevent hair fall or does anyone want to suggest a good shampoo for me? please.

Product Review-Wizzit Autotweezer

my friend asked me in the chatbox about the wizzit autotweezer and i promised to do a review on it. so here goes.

the tweezer comes in a black velvety pouch. it requires two AAA batteries to operate. when i first used it, it felt weird, slightly painful and it feels like little electric shocks. i even tried it on my lil bro's arm and he wasn't too pleased about it. i used it on my armpit and you know how sensitive the armpits are, right? so go figure. you can actually feel the tweezer plucking (or rather tugging) at your hair, one by one. but after some time, i got used to it and continued tweezing away though i find it a bit noisy. well, it is close to your ears when you tweeze so it kinda annoyed me a bit. before i bought the tweezer, i read the review on the blogshop, which was very helpful. however, unless and until you have tried it yourself, then only you can say for real. the blogshop suggested to remove the transparent blue cover to increase effectiveness. this, i agree with her. the downside is, the hair that was plucked (you can actually see the roots of the hair) goes all over the place. i tweezed on my bed and i can see the hair everywhere on my bed sheet. not a pretty sight. if you leave the blue transparent cover, the hair will get trapped in there and you need to clean it every once in a while. do take note that not all hairs get trapped by the tweezer so you may need to manually pluck what's left.

as for hair regrowth, i noticed that it is slower (because the root of the hair was plucked) and some hairs grew fine. do take note that you must wait for it to regrow before you start tweezing again or else the tweezer might not 'trap' the hair. as for me, i tweezed some hairs which have started to show manually.

overall, i rate this product 3.5 out of 5. it definitely delivers and it is efficient. you know how shaving is not good for your skin, right? by the way, i only tried on my armpits. i don't use it on other parts of the body (yet). when i bought mine, i also received this beauty kit and a hair clip as a token of appreciation by the blogshop owner.

oh here's a tip, after i finished tweezing, i applied Bio Oil on my armpits to soothe the skin.

choc mania

guess what's in the bag?

these babies!

here's the bill

i wanted to buy certain chocs but most come in big bags (not that i can't finish them) and the price cost more than RM50 per bag. *sigh* i contemplated and took quite some time to decide which chocs to buy. if i spend X amount of money for brand X chocs, i will only end up with one type of chocs. i might as well vary it. i was spoilt for choices. you would too, looking at the wide selection of chocs. however, i am extremely happy with my purchase. i am gonna stuff my face with all these yummy chocs. i'm good for the next month (or less).

eating with (a) total stranger(s)

have you ever eaten with a complete and total stranger? your answer may be a No but actually, most, if not all of us have done at least once in our lives. some of you may do so every other day without you realizing it. wanna know why?

here's why.

if you eat at a food court, you are bound to eat with strangers. yes. now it hit you, didn't it? but it's true, right? you may not know the people sitting on your left or right and sometimes in front of you yet you eat at the same table (in situations where the table is a long table or where the tables are close to one another).

so what, you may ask? as long as they keep their foods in their mouths and they don't pick up on your food, what's the problem, right? not really.

it happened to me yesterday at lunch. i was in Shah Alam and i went to the food court in Giant, noted with its sizzling hot plate noodles. well, at least it is noted among my uni friends. ask any Shah Alam-ian or students in Shah Alam and i bet 9/10 will agree with me. i was all alone so i bought the noodle and a drink and started to find a place to sit. luckily the food court was not that crowded. i managed to grab a seat. as i was about to eat, two ladies asked if the seats beside me are occupied, to which i said no. then they sat down. and later on, two guys came and sat in front of me. the table has 4 seats, 3 of which are already occupied but the tables are close to one another. the seat in front of me was empty. one of the guys sat in front of me and his friend sat beside him. yes, of all places, they chose to sit there, huh? that didn't bother me much because most seats are probably occupied. what bothered me are:
  • they didn't have the courtesy to even ask if the seat is occupied or not;
  • they talked and yapped like nobody's business;
  • one of them ate with a really annoying sound; and
  • another one slurped his cendol like he's never tasted cendol in his life.
you get the idea? and not to mention, the two ladies beside me was also busy talking about holiday plans, hotels, where to take the kids and what not. seriously. but then, there's nothing much i can do as it is a public place, but that does not mean that you have to leave your courtesy behind at your work place, do you? and you don't have to tell the whole world food court about your holiday plans, do you? there's no way i can finish my noodles in a jiffy without burning my tongue. so i had to endure the whole lunch hour in agony. the only consolation was that the noodle tasted good.

and no, i did not take a picture of the noodles or else those people might think i'm cuckoo. LOL.

that humble little product

Do you know what apple cider vinegar is? This humble product has a lot of amazing health benefits. I am currently taking apple cider vinegar on a daily basis. Just mix the apple cider vinegar with water (I prefer warm) and add honey to it and drink. Bragg’s apple cider vinegar is most commonly sold here in Malaysia. I am not sure if I have seen other brands of apple cider vinegar selling besides Bragg’s. I bought mine at Vitacare Pharmacy at RM18.90. I am not sure how much Guardian and Watson’s are selling though but how much difference can there be anyway, right?

Trust me, it is good for your health. And hey, who would have thought that it is good for the skin too? If you are interested to know more, simply click on the links below. Or better still, Google it yourself.

another package in the mail

Yesterday, I received another package in the mail.

What did I order this time? Nope, this is not the package that I talked about in my previous post. That one will arrive next week or so, hopefully (I can't wait!). I ordered these from this blogshop. It is so cheap so I thought that I wanted to give it a try. It’s 3 pairs for RM10. I also bought additional glue, as advised by the blogshop owner as the glue that comes together with the eyelashes may not be sufficient.

So last night, before I went to bed, I decided to try it on. I deserve a knock on my head for not sleeping early and instead went meddling around with those falsies, which left me sleepy and lazy the whole day.
Anyway, the glue that comes together with the falsies is not good at all as the falsies did not stick to my eyelashes. It dropped every time I blink my eyes and it annoys the hell out of me. Luckily I bought the additional glue. It worked wonders! However, being an amateur at using falsies, it took me quite some time to get it right. The one and only time I used falsies was in 2008, during my sister’s wedding and it was attached by the make up artist.
In the end, I managed to put them on. It does feel a bit uncomfortable though. I wonder, how can people tahan using falsies all the time? Or maybe it’s a matter of getting used to? I’m definitely not gonna wear it on a daily basis. What the heck for, right? There are weddings coming up so it may be a good time to put them on, provided I get them right. Imagine if the falsies fall when you are talking to someone. Imagine the embarrassment. LOL. Or worst, what if it fell into your plate and you freaked out because you thought it was some kind of insect? Not something that I wanna take risk for. Anyone wanna share their experience(s) or tips on wearing falsies?
