do your part

so we have less than 48 hours to go until the much anticipated Earth Hour. everyone is encouraged, or rather urged to turn off the lights for one hour on 28 March 2009 from 830pm to 930pm. i wonder how many people would actually turn off the lights. i think we should turn off most, if not all electrical appliances, save and except for the refrigerator.
however, from what i learn, many events will take place all around KL. for instance, there will be an event in Starhill, one in Mont Kiara and also Capsquare, among others. the question is, what is the point of turning off the lights when most people, youngsters especially will be out and about, driving their vehicles to the events, partying away, with sounds and lights blasting all night long? ok maybe during that one hour period, the lights will be turned off and no music will be played (if i am not mistaken, at one of the events, the musicians will be performing acapella) but later on, i'm sure it will be played all night, which may use more energy than what was saved during the one hour period. this is just my two cents worth but i think it defeats the purpose.
well, i won't be in the country on that day anyway but then again, if i were, maybe, just maybe i will be at one of the places i mentioned above. if i am married, i'm sure i'll just stay at home and make full use of the dark by making love having a nice, romantic candle-lit dinner with my loved one but then i'm not so scrap that thought.
wherever i may be, I'll try to do my part and turn off the lights and other electrical appliances too, if it is possible.
what about you? what are you going to do and where will you be on that date, at that particular time?

almost

here's the thing about calling in radio stations. either you did not manage to get through because the line is busy or when (and if) you do, you are either not the caller that they're looking for OR it is not the cue to call yet.

Hitz.fm is currently giving away tickets to the Sunburst Music Festival so as i was driving from Court today, i heard the deejay (i wasn't sure who he was) saying about the ticket giveaway, which i thought was the cue to call. so i immediately reached for my phone in my handbag (had to korek2 the bag, which was on the floor of the passenger seat) and frantically tried to call in. to my surprise, there was a ringing tone at the other end. so i thought, hmmmm this is gonna be easy. and then the deejay picked up the phone. he said, "hello hitz.fm. who is this?" i said, "helloooo...this is Izyan sepaking" and then he said, "Hi Izyan. apa khabar?" "Baikkkkk." of course lah i felt baik because first, i managed to get through the line and second, they actually picked up the phone so i mati2 thought that i'm the caller that they're looking for. and then he asked me, "so Izyan, what can i do for you?" i answered, "I wanna win the Sunburst tickets" and then he said, "Ohhhh the tickets. tell me, who do you wanna see at the music festival?" to be honest, i don't have any singer/band in particular that i like and i don't remember nuts who will be performing anyway but earlier i heard a caller said he wants to watch N.E.R.D so i simply said "i wanna see N.E.R.D!" padahal i don't even know their songs pun! hahaha. and then the deejay asked me "why do you wanna see them?" so i just said "because they're the bomb!!" lame, i know but what was i suppose to say, right? hahaha. luckily he didn't ask me to name their songs or else i would be so malu. and then he said "tell you what Izyan, i can't exactly give you the tickets right now" damn! i said, "why not??" he said "because it's not the cue to call yet" hampehhhhhh....so i said, "ohhh i thought i heard the cue to call?" then he said, "nooo that was a trick actually but we're gonna give the tickets at 12 so stay tuned." uh huh...then i said, "no wonder i can get through the line so easily. oh well, i guess i'll be on standby then."

so there. i almost won the tickets. almost.

weekend project part 17

last weekend's project was a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk cookie. recipe can be obtained here. i don't have any semisweet chocolates so i used cooking chocolate, cut into chunks. i think they're great because the chocolates are soft when you bite into it. however the cookie is a bit hard. perhaps i should make them smaller.

the ingredients

the cookie dough. the white bits are nuts because i used crunchy peanut butter.

cherish the love

With the passing of my senior back in UiTM, Ahmad Zulkamal a.k.a Zack on 21 February 2009, at a tender young age, it made me realise that anything can happen to anyone, anytime. I don't personally know arwah but he's my senior and the boyfriend of Veeky (Susan's best friend) therefore we always bump into each other in the faculty and we would occasionally say hi and smile to each other. When I received the news from Susan on Saturday evening, I was utterly shocked. I guess Allah loves him more. All we can do is say our prayers for arwah.

Life is indeed full of surprises and life is too short to be wasted. Therefore, cherish the people around you for you will never know what will happen to them, to yourself and when will be the last time you see them. Appreciate the people around you and live life to the fullest.

To Zack, may you rest in peace.
To Veeky, be strong. There's a silver lining behind every cloud.

a nightly battle

i have been having sleepless nights. every night when i turn off the lights, i will hear the annoying sound of mosquitoes ringing in my ears. the weird thing is, before i turn off the lights, there was no mosquitoes at all. but the moment i hit the bed, they magically appear out of nowhere. WTF? i closed my windows early so where the hell did they come from? it is bloody annoying. what is most annoying is that they always berlegar-legar around the face area and then when you tried to smack them, you ended up smacking your face, which becomes more annoying. no amount of sprays or vape mats can kill them. damn it. i ended up pening because of the smell. and when one does not get enough sleep, one becomes cranky. and when one is cranky, one gets easily annoyed. when one gets annoyed, one becomes pissed off and the chain continues...all because of the annoying blood-sucking mosquitoes.

weekend project part 16

i found a recipe for caramel cake here. honestly, i didn't know that caramel cake is actually kek gula hangus (duuh, i know!). the recipe is simple, the ingredients are minimal so i thought that i wanted to give it a try. i thought that it will turn out yellowish like creme caramel, only in cake form. what was i thinking, huh?
the ingredients

the batter, ready to be baked

after it was turned upside down

dah kena potong

the cake

my first attempt and it turned out ok. well, this is how kek gula hangus is supposed to look like, right? it has those 'sarang' and when i look at it closely, i become geli as in goosebumps. crazy, huh? but it looks like beehive pun ada. but when looked at closely, geli pulak. taste-wise, tasted like kek gula hangus lah. =)

oh woman

i just have to share this piece of quote which i received in my email. i don't know who came up with this quote but i loved it, don't you?

"Whatever you give a woman, she will make it greater. If you give her sperm, she will give you a baby. If you give her a house, she will give you a home. If you give her groceries, she will give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she will give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So if you give her a piece of crap, be prepared to receive a ton of shit."

weekday project for that special someone

when you love someone, you would go all out for that person. you would want to do your very best for that person. but what if that person is far away from you? when there is love, nothing can stop you. so what better way to express your love than to make some home-baked cookies? however, as much as you want to bake from scratch as it means a whole lot more, sometimes you just don't have the time. so this comes to the rescue. hey, it's the thought that counts, remember? as long as it is made with love, it will turn out great and that person will definitely love it and appreciate you for doing it.

when it is done, cool it on a rack and put it in a nice air-tight container and give it to that special someone.
oh by the way, who is that special someone you may ask? it is none other than my beloved sister who is all the way in Cambridge. i got you there, didn't i?
sis, these cookies are made specially for you. i know you have yummy Millie's cookies (and other yummy cookies tsk tsk) over there but i bet you sure missed my home-baked cookies, no? =P i hope you loved it.
now now...who is lucky enough to get my next batch of baked goodies?

nothingness

i haven't been updating this blog since my last post. i don't exactly know why of late i've been neglecting My CrAp ShEEt. either i'm being plain lazy or i just couldn't be bothered to write or perhaps i don't feel like complaining about stuffs in here. trust me, there are aplenty. and it is so unlike me not to trash things out in here. i didn't even write anything about my birthday. things have been weird of late. too many complicated issues to deal with. *sigh* but then the lappy is back at its cranky mode again.

oh well...now now where are those chocolates?
